What We Collect

Account Information

Email address: For license delivery, support, and optional updates
Payment information: Processed by Stripe (we never see your card details)
License key: Generated automatically to authenticate your access

Usage Data

Task execution logs: Which tasks you run, timestamps, credit usage
Technical logs: API requests, errors, performance metrics

What We DON'T Collect

Your documents: Local execution tasks process files entirely on your machine
Client names or case details: We don't store the content of your queries beyond processing
Location tracking: No GPS, no browser fingerprinting
Social media connections: We're not tracking you across the web

How We Use Your Data

We use collected information to:

Provide and improve the LawTasksAI service
Process payments and manage your credits
Send transactional emails (license keys, receipts, support responses)
Send optional product updates (if you subscribe)
Troubleshoot technical issues
Detect and prevent abuse or fraud

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your data. Period.

We share limited data with:

Stripe: For payment processing (they have their own privacy policy)
Google Cloud Platform: Our infrastructure provider (hosting, database)
Anthropic: For AI processing of server-side tasks (see their data policies for current retention terms)

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.

Local vs Server-Side Tasks

Server-Side Tasks (159 tasks)

Research, calculations, and lookups run on our servers. Your query is sent to us, processed, and results are returned. We keep minimal logs for troubleshooting.

Local Execution Tasks (43 tasks)

Your documents are never sent to LawTasksAI. We deliver the expert framework; your AI assistant applies it. If you use a cloud AI provider, your documents are sent to them for processing. For Rule 1.6 compliance with confidential materials, use a local LLM or ensure your cloud provider has a zero data retention agreement.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices:

HTTPS encryption for all communications
License key authentication
Secure database storage (Google Cloud Firestore)
Regular security updates
Limited employee access to user data

No system is 100% secure. Use good password practices and keep your license key private.

Data Retention

Account data: Kept as long as your account is active
Usage logs: Retained for billing and troubleshooting (90 days)
Financial records: Kept for 7 years (tax/legal requirements)
Email subscribers: Until you unsubscribe

Your Rights

You can:

Access your data: Email us to request a copy
Correct errors: Update your email or account info
Delete your account: We'll remove your data (except financial records required by law)
Opt out of emails: Unsubscribe anytime (transactional emails still required)

Session cookies: To keep you logged in (if we add a dashboard)

Third-Party AI Providers

LawTasksAI delivers expert analysis frameworks. Your AI assistant processes your data. Depending on your setup:

Local LLM: Your data stays entirely on your machine — no third-party processing.
Cloud AI provider: Your queries and documents are sent to the provider (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) for processing. Review your provider's data retention and confidentiality policies before using with sensitive client materials.

We recommend using a provider with a zero data retention agreement for confidential legal work.

Children's Privacy

LawTasksAI is for legal professionals. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

International Users

Our servers are in the United States. By using LawTasksAI, you consent to data transfer to the US. We comply with applicable data protection laws.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email (if subscribed) or a notice on the website. Continued use means you accept the new terms.
